Confidence Fitness Space Saving X Bike CustomerReview

I am an active off road cyclist, over 60, ride dirt 30 miles a week, single speed 29er and cyclo cross bike, have a bad back, ride a lot off the seat which is good for my back re hab and fitness. Got this for rainy days. Its compact, does the job, legs only, you will not ride it out of the saddle, got Knee Savers to convert the pedals to regular mountain bike pedals with straps, for more control. I am 5′9″ and do not have long legs, but the pedal distance is not set up for long legs. You can use it, even then, but its not as comfortable that way as is a trainer. Its much easier to get on and off than a trainer, not much different in resistance than a magnetic trainer, if you think of it as a one speed. Quiet. I weigh 205, seems solid. I tend to spin very hard for shorter durations at top resistance or it seems pretty low impact. Seat is hard. I made a fat pad out of foam and some old bike shorts. I think if you have a bad lower back, maybe a rowing machine is better, I have ordered one about the same cost as this. My wife likes it better, I tried a lot of more expensive ones at stores. This is as good as most of them for a short workout. Its not even close to riding five miles in dirt with a one speed no matter how long you do it. Real riding is balance and the tension of holding the body off the saddle on the bars, that gets the full body workout. When I get the rowing machine I will review it. Older, low impact, its better than a one mile walk, by FAR if you do it for 10 minutes.

Making Your Elliptical Cross Trainer Work For You

June 16th, 2010

Have you reached a plateau in your exercise regimen? You need a machine that will challenge you, give you the desired “total body” workout, and no longer put you at high risk of orthopedic injury. Sound impossible? No, you need an elliptical cross trainer exercise machine.

This article will assist you in your final decision of whether or not an elliptical cross trainer is the right exercise machine for you. Elliptical workouts boast many excellent features that are beneficial to any workout on any fitness level.

Elliptical workouts involve upper and lower body activity at an extremely low impact which is far healthier for your joints. This machine is the preferred trainer for older people as well as those with medical or health issues requiring little or no impact exercise.

Adjustable resistance levels assist in maintaining and increasing bone density, and slow the onset of osteoporosis. While weight bearing exercise (running, walking, tennis, etc.) is imperative to maintaining good health, it also enables your body to more efficiently burn calories. Your metabolism raises as a result of weight bearing exercise, and a higher metabolism continues to burn calories several hours after a workout.

To expand your workout without lengthening the duration, you may want to consider a cross trainer with dual motion arm bars. Your trainer will effectively become a “total body” workout machine. Thus resulting in burning more calories in the same or less amount of time.

Elliptical trainers boast the ability to proudly claim a high rating of “Perceived Rate of Exertion”, which translates loosely as:

Because of a lack of pain and fatigue while engaging in an elliptical workout, you feel you have exercised for less time, thereby increasing the intensity or duration of your workout, without actually perceiving (noticing you’re going longer) this.

Elliptical cross trainers are precisely that– a cross between a stair climber or step machine, and a treadmill. The elliptical motion is the closest to the natural movement of walking or running. Try a cross trainer for at least one month. The results will be impressive, and visible in approximately 4 to 6 weeks, however, after one week you will feel a distinct difference in your energy level. The reverse option is a huge benefit to adding variety to your workouts, as well as down loadable programs being made available by iFit compatible elliptical cross trainers.

The size of a standard cross trainer is on a slightly smaller level than the average treadmill which adds to the ease of rearranging , cleaning, maintenance , or storage. An elliptical trainer is an ideal form of intense exercise, as well as “small space” compatible, however, keep in mind the amount of space needed for full range of movement while working out.

Although an elliptical cross trainer may not be productive for everyone, you are now aware of the optional features and some of the important facts about them. Great cardiovascular workouts are no longer unobtainable. Purchase your elliptical cross trainer, change your life.

The LifeCore Fitness LC990 Elliptical – Making Workouts Possible For Larger Users

February 6th, 2010

Ellipticals continue to grow in popularity when it comes to finding a piece of exercise equipment to be used at home. Unfortunately, those that are particularly tall or heavy have not been able to take advantage of these machines because of weight limits and limitations in height. The LifeCore Fitness LC990 Elliptical, however, was designed specifically to meet the needs of those that have previously had difficulty finding an elliptical that is right for them.

Many ellipticals that are currently on the market have a weight limit of 300 pounds. The LifeCore Fitness LC990 Elliptical, on the other hand, has a weight capacity of up to 350 pounds. In addition, it is constructed with thick tubular construction in order to provide for an extra level of stability for larger users.

Despite the fact that the LifeCore Fitness LC990 Elliptical is made with larger users in mind, it still has a compact design. The extra durability of the machine does make it quite a bit heavier than many other ellipticals, however, which means it weighs in at 137 pounds. Fortunately, the model does have oversized transport wheels that make it easier to move it from place to place.

As with other ellipticals offered through LifeCore, the LC990 model features 12 Preset Programs as well as 4 Polar Compatible Heart Rate Control Programs. It also offers 16 levels of Magnetic Resistance as well as the ability to store data for up to 9 different users. Therefore, everyone in the household, from large to small, can make use of this model.

The added durability of the LifeCore Fitness LC990 Elliptical does not add to the length of its warranty. As with other ellipticals offered through LifeCore, this model comes with a five year warranty on parts and a one year warranty on labor when used for residential purposes. In addition, this model is more costly than other models, such as the LC980 and the LC985Z, and this extra cost may not be worth it if you do not have a need for a more durable model that is suited for larger users.
