Maximize Your Fat Loss Process With Bodyweight Exercise

September 2nd, 2010

Gaining fat loss by doing body weight exercise? Is that possible? How can a workout using nothing but body weight could be better than if we workout at the gym using various expensive fitness equipments?

The answer is yes, you certainly can maximize your fat loss by doing body weight exercises. That is because every time you do body weight workouts you actually train multiple muscle groups within your body in every movement. That makes your body works harder than when you train with machines, therefore your metabolic process rate will rise and certainly would intensify your fat burning process.

By doing simple movements using your own body weight in every exercise session, you will stretch and strengthen your body, shaping your abs, creating durability, increasing your stamina and of course burning stubborn fats in your body.

Compared to other training like never-ending cardio workouts, body weight workouts could be more enjoyable and take less time to perform, also it’s considered to be more beneficial to muscles and joints rather than weight lifting trainings. Moreover, you should see faster result by just doing simple movements and gain many improvements in your health and physical abilities.

Below are some examples of body weight exercises that you can perform daily for 20 minutes or maybe less. These exercises are actually very easy to do but they could bring tremendous results to your body if you do them with discipline and continuously. You can do these 2 or 3 times a week for as long as 4 week period.

- free squats: you need to stand straight, and after that bring down yourself as like getting ready to sit back on a chair, choose the amount from 10 to 100 for how much you will do this exercise, choose the number that would challenge you.

- push ups: Take a standard position, and start to push them out. Once more pick a quantity depending on your current strength which challenges you, no matter whether that may be 10, 20, 50 or perhaps 100, that’s your decision

- calculate about half mile range, and then calculate how much time you need to be able to run it. Walking is ok in case you are just starting however ensure you time it all the exact same. In the end of 4 weeks should you walking at the start substitute it with jogging, in case you are jogging at the start substitute it with running, and when you are running at the start substitute it with sprinting.

Are Elliptical Exercise Machines Worth It?

August 11th, 2010

There is a lot of different exercise equipment out there. Whenever you are looking for the best, it can be hard to know which one you should get. Today we are going to be looking at one of the top brands, Elliptical. People all the time are asking if Elliptical exercise equipment is worth it and if it’s better than those other treadmill products out there. Right now, we are going to cover some of the main questions you are more than likely going to have about this kind of equipment. By the end, you should know if Elliptical is the right brand for you.

Right now, everyone is into burning calories and knowing how many calories you are going to burn. Well, it’s hard to give an exact amount of calories you will burn using these machines. We are going to give some estimates. For example, a 150 pound woman, working out for about 30 minutes on a Elliptical product, can expect to lose about 390 calories. A man that weights, about 180, can expect to lose about 500 calories in the same amount of time. Now, Elliptical claims that you can lose up to 700 calories an hour using their workout. As you can see by these numbers, they are telling the truth. Of course, there are some other factors that have to be added in when working out.

When it comes to finding out how many calories you are going to burn using the Elliptical exercise equipment, you have to factor in a lot of things. For example, you have to factor in how long you work out, the tension settings on your machine, as well as your weight and gender. On top of that, you have to know things like your body composition (also known as your muscle to fat ratio), the amount of upper body arm usage you are using, as well as the state of your cardiovascular system. These are things that you have to factor into any work out. Of course, when you factor all the same numbers into other machines, you come to find out that Elliptical is one of the best.

There are a few things that you should always do when working out on this kind of equipment, to make sure you get the best work out possible. The number one thing is to use your upper body as well. For example, using your arms while you are running on one of their machines. This is going to work more muscles, which in turn burns more calories. You may even want to hold two pound weights while you run. This really gives your arms a work out and burns even more calories. Last, but not least, try and break up your work outs. If you can do a little 20-minute work out in the morning and a 20-minute work out at night, you are going to be burning a lot more calories. That is because, when you work out, you are charging up your metabolism. So if you do a little in the morning and a little at night, you are keeping your metabolism charged all day long.

Warming Up to Exercise – Can it Reduce the Stress?

July 26th, 2010

Warming up is very important when you are going to exercise. Whether you are going for a walk, a run, or going to the gym to hit the weights you should consider what muscles you are going to be using and make sure that they are prepared for what you are going to do. You may need just to do a light sort of stretching routine for a couple minutes if you are going for a walk, but if you are doing more than that, you may need more extensive warm-up

A problem that we have in today’s society is that we are becoming a very sedentary people. This is especially true in western civilization. As you are sitting at your desk reading this article, you are aware of certain nagging aches that occur from being in one position for too long. You need to get up and stretch once in a while even for “just” sitting.

Stretching is an important part of warming up, and it should be considered part of your exercise program, rather than a separate aspect. It should become something you do without thought. It just happens. But make sure whatever warming up you do is actually warming up the muscles you are planning to use.

This is a big mistake that I see people make all the time. They go into a gym and get on the treadmill and walk for five minutes and consider that to be their warm-up. This may be fine if you are planning on doing a leg workout, but if you are doing anything upper body related, or arms, how is walking on a treadmill warming you up? I mean really you walked into the gym, if walking is enough that would have taken care of things.

A simple effective warm up is doing whatever exercise you are working on, and doing a set of ten repetitions with a very light weight. For example if you are going to bench press, do ten reps with just the bar and no weights on it at all. That actually does stretch the muscles you are about to use. It’s effective and simple stretching at its best.

Anyone who sits at a computer desk all day knows the aches and pains which are incurred unless some form of stretching is engaged in during the day. Conversely, if one hasn’t been exercising for some time or has a sedentary lifestyle, walking even 20 minutes results in soreness and pain.

If you are planning a walk or a run, you aren’t going to walk or run to get ready to do that. Well, I’ll take that back a bit. You may walk to warm up for your run, but you should also stretch your leg muscles and your core. It is very important to stretch your calf muscles as well as your quadriceps and hamstrings. To do this you can spread your legs twice shoulder width apart and stretch toward the ground with your fingertips, keeping your knees straight. That gets your hamstrings. Your quads can be stretched by standing upright and lifting a leg behind you, one at a time. Calves are best stretched by using a step or a curb to extend your toes toward the sky.

Just try to remember that whatever body part you are going to be exercising has to be the one that is involved in the stretch/warm up. That little piece of advice will serve you in whatever you do.

Is This The Best Exercise To Lose Weight?

June 12th, 2010

The best exercise to lose weight is probably not what you think. This may be surprising to you, but one of the biggest myths about exercising is that you have to sweat bullets to lose weight and burn fat. Actually, low-intensity cardio workouts that are varied by interval levels will help your body to burn a higher percentage of calories from fat.

The best fat burning workouts start with a slow, aerobic exercise where you increase the intensity level for a period and then return to back the slower pace. These workouts involve most major muscle groups so they are much more effective at burning body fat.

If you only do high intensity workouts, your body will burn more sugar instead of burning fat, because the body needs quick energy. Sugar from the food in your system will deliver that quick energy that your body is craving much quicker than fat.

Basketball, running, racquetball, and playing tennis and other high intensity workouts can definitely benefit your overall fitness, but those types of exercises will not burn as much body fat because your body makes better use of the sugar in your system for quick energy.

So, low-intensity cardio workouts where you vary your intensity level are actually the best fat burning workouts because these types of exercises require slow but steady fuel and your body will eventually start burning stored fat for the energy it requires.

Walking at different speeds, cycling, swimming, elliptical trainer workouts, and different treadmill workouts are all good examples of good fat burning workouts. Just remember to vary the levels of intensity to get the best fat burning results from your workout.

Exercises like these will ramp up your metabolism, meaning that you will continue to burn fat long after the workout is done. People who exercise regularly produce a greater amount of fat burning enzymes than those who don’t exercise.

Long workouts are not necessarily required. You can start with just twenty minutes of a good fat burning workout to get the fat burning enzymes going. Once your level of fitness gets better, you can eventually add more time to your workout. For beginners, 3 days a week would be a good start, gradually working up to 5 days as your fitness level improves.

Treadmills and elliptical trainers are the most popular fitness equipment for home workouts because they allow you to stay fit in any weather condition and the whole family can use them. If you don’t have time to go to the gym, they are an ideal alternative and quality fitness equipment will last for many years.

Stationary bikes provide for great fat burning workouts. They are easy to change the intensity for greater resistance as well as lowering resistance to achieve the variations that you need in your workouts.

These small changes in the way you workout can make a lot of difference in how much body fat you can burn. Start using the best fat burning workouts that work best for you and you can turbo charge your metabolism and burn maximum body fat to make every workout count.

Exercise Gliders

May 23rd, 2010

An At Home Alternative To An Elliptical Machine

If you’ve used an elliptical machine at a gym and you’d like to have a light weight inexpensive version of the same thing at home than an exercise glider may be what you are looking for. While buying an elliptical machine for your home will probably cost you about $1000, you can get an exercise glider for less than $100. An example of an exercise glider is Tony Little’s “Gazelle” which is advertised on television. It costs about $100.

Exercise Gliders Fold Up Easily (Saves Space)

If you don’t have much space in your home then the fact that an exercise glider such as the “Gazelle” folds easily is a big positive. If you live in a small apartment like me then it’s a huge positive! I just don’t have space to have a big elliptical machine in the middle of the living room all the time. To me that’s just as important as the fact that they are about $1000 cheaper for pretty much the same type of exercise.

Low Impact Workout

One of the great things about working out with an exercise glider is the fact that it gives you a low impact workout. This is great for those of us with bad knees or for people who are significantly overweight. Walking on the concrete can be very hard on the knees. Why not burn the calories without the wear & tear on the knees? That’s what you get with an exercise glider.

Cardio Is An Important Part Of Losing Weight

Combining cardio exercise with a smart fat burning diet (stay away from low calorie starvation diets) is a great way to lose weight fast.

An Exercise Plan to Lose Weight

May 19th, 2010

Do you have an exercise plan to lose weight? Two excellent choices to consider are the elliptical workout and the treadmill weight loss workout. Let’s compare the two kinds of workouts so you will be able to determine which exercise plan to lose weight works best for you.

An elliptical trainer workout has become very popular and actually has a few advantages over a treadmill. It is less strenuous to the knees, joints and lower back so it is very suitable for people with injuries.

It also works all the parts of your body continuously giving you a total body workout. An elliptical trainer workout is great for cardio fitness and you can get a good workout in a short period of time.

A treadmill workout is still a very popular workout today. Many people buy a treadmill so the whole family can use it. A treadmill workout is perfect for beginners because the intensity in the workout is adjustable by walking, jogging or running.

Treadmill weight loss can best be achieved by exercising within your target heart range zone. Here is how to find the right target heart rate for you.

First, you need to find out what your heart rate is while exercising after five minutes. To test your heart rate place your thumb on the underside of your wrist to locate your pulse. Count the beats for 15 seconds and multiply that number times four. That number is your heart rate.

To calculate your ideal target heart rate, subtract your age from 220. For successful treadmill weight loss exercise within 70% of your target heart range zone.

Both the elliptical trainers and treadmills help you to burn fat and are perfect exercise plans to lose weight. Exercising not only tones your muscles, but actually gives you more energy for your whole day.

You can purchase treadmills and elliptical workout trainers on the Internet as well as fitness stores. Both machines are very effective for burning fat and losing weight. Just make sure that you buy quality equipment that will last.
