Confidence Fitness Space Saving X Bike CustomerReview

I am an active off road cyclist, over 60, ride dirt 30 miles a week, single speed 29er and cyclo cross bike, have a bad back, ride a lot off the seat which is good for my back re hab and fitness. Got this for rainy days. Its compact, does the job, legs only, you will not ride it out of the saddle, got Knee Savers to convert the pedals to regular mountain bike pedals with straps, for more control. I am 5′9″ and do not have long legs, but the pedal distance is not set up for long legs. You can use it, even then, but its not as comfortable that way as is a trainer. Its much easier to get on and off than a trainer, not much different in resistance than a magnetic trainer, if you think of it as a one speed. Quiet. I weigh 205, seems solid. I tend to spin very hard for shorter durations at top resistance or it seems pretty low impact. Seat is hard. I made a fat pad out of foam and some old bike shorts. I think if you have a bad lower back, maybe a rowing machine is better, I have ordered one about the same cost as this. My wife likes it better, I tried a lot of more expensive ones at stores. This is as good as most of them for a short workout. Its not even close to riding five miles in dirt with a one speed no matter how long you do it. Real riding is balance and the tension of holding the body off the saddle on the bars, that gets the full body workout. When I get the rowing machine I will review it. Older, low impact, its better than a one mile walk, by FAR if you do it for 10 minutes.

Choose an Octane Elliptical For a Unique Exercise Experience

August 18th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Octane Fitness have once again broken the boundaries of accepted elliptical trainer design. Enter exhibit of one: the xRide seated elliptical. Yes, that’s right, as the title suggests the xRide is quite simply an elliptical which you sit! This, octane tells us, is the ultimate in the octane elliptical line of elliptical trainer machines.

With the xRide, as with all other octane elliptical machines, provides superior upper and lower body motion. Octane machines provide a host of innovative features which make your workout and easier and wholly more enjoyable experience. Some people may find the sitting position much easier than the standard one; some people may find that this is the only way they can exercise. It is for these people that the xRide provides an ideal solution.

Everyone knows that if you buy an octane elliptical you are assured of a great quality piece of kit that will not only make you fit, will make you happy in the process. There is no reason to think that the xRide will be any different.

Octane fitness is the only company on the planet that is solely dedicated to providing octane ellipticals. No other company concentrates their resources in such a precise way. Their mission, according to their website, is to reshape and perfect elliptical machines to deliver the best workout ever. A noble aim, but is it one which they can achieve? Looking at the xRide it is easy to say that yes, I think they probably can. Good luck to them in any case for trying something different. Let’s see how the xRide stands up (if you excuse the pun) to the competition.

Come and read more information on the xRide Octane Elliptical model and other articles relating to Octane Ellipticals.

Report on the Proform XP Elliptical Trainer

August 16th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As you proabably already know if you have been researching at home workout equipment, the various machines are pretty expensive. Elliptical bikes or trainers are no exception. A moderately priced elliptical bike can run you a couple thousand dollars. The Proform XP elliptical trainer is an exception.

The Proform XP retails for around $600. The best ellipticals run several thousand dollars so how does this economic model stack up? The answer is, surprisingly well.

Most customers are happy with it’s overall performance. There are some issues with design and functionality, but that is to be expected with a machine as inexpensive as this one is. Several reports with minor malfunctions when the bike is used at low settings, like one or two. The best way to combat this is to use it at higher settings. Several reports that the heart monitor is erratic and can’t be trusted to always perform accurately.

Some reports that the pedals broke after a short period of time. Most reports, however, say that the manufacturer fixed the problem. A lot of critics report other, more serious issues, but very few of these are substantiated by consumer reports. Most, we believe, are an attempt by rival brands to discredit this model.

Most positive reports mention good durability, reliable performance and of course, a low price. Overall, reports for this model elliptical are good. Do not expect it to rival a four thousand dollar machine, it is inferior in overall quality. But if you’re looking for a reliable, inexpensive workout machine, this one is for you.

About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won’t strain sensitive joints.

LifeSpan Fitness EX3 Elliptical CustomerReview

This is a very good, club quality elliptical for an affordable price. My wife thinks that the resistance is too high compared to the club models, but it is a fraction of the cost and appears to be very well made.
